Since I do track days at Pacific Raceways as often as the budget allows (actually, slightly more often) I thought it would be a good idea to watch some actual races there. The most convenient/appropriate was the Sovren Vintage Races on July 1, 2007. Bringing along the camera seemed like a natural thing to do. Unfortunately, the spectator areas are far from the track (at least compared to where the corner workers are), which necesitated a big heavy telephoto lens. After about 5 hours, I was exhausted (9lbs. of photo gear seems to get heavier after a few hours of standing and walking) and my back was hurting, so I left before the last race (which of course, had the most photogenic cars).
