The previous day, I had purchased a Leica D-Lux 3. Things that I've learned so far: I should have bought the Panasonic LX2 instead. Images are horrendously noisy. It looks like ISO 100 is going to be good for prints up to about 8 inches wide, and ISO 1600 is going to be good for smallish web images. 16x9 is an interesting aspect ratio for horizontal shots, but rarely for vertical. The high ISO images tend to look much better with a hint of Neat Image noise reduction, some tonality adjustment and conversion to black and white using the channel mixer. Neither iMovie nor Final Cut Pro are very cooperative when you want to open up a 16x9 Quicktime movie, convert it to black and white, and then resize it.
